Carolina Bed and Breakfast

Your Wedding in Asheville North Carolina

Studiowed AbbyIf you want to go to a great party, go to a party thrown for themselves by people whose job it is to create events.  You will see firsthand exactly what they can do. And,  having just been to the StudioWed Industry Party for Wedding Professionals and Vendors, I can say with confidence that if you choose to have your wedding in Asheville North Carolina you will be pleased with the result!

Let me back up a little and give you some background.  Asheville is rapidly becoming one of the leading destination wedding spots in the USA.  With a wide selection of venues ranging from mansions (the Biltmore) to mountains (The Highlands), from farm (Hickory Nut Gap) to luxury hotels (The Omni Grove Park Inn) , there is something for almost everyone’s taste.  In addition, the city of Asheville provides lots of activity and entertainment for out-of-town guests in their free time. And if you are looking for something smaller and more intimate, many Asheville Bed and Breakfasts (including the Carolina Bed & Breakfast) will be happy to arrange a small wedding or elopement for you.  B&B’s are also a great choice for housing members of your wedding party, family or the groom’s family!

But Asheville has something special to make planning your wedding even easier:  StudioWed.  StudioWed is a free service to brides bringing Asheville Wedding Professionals directly to them.  No need to run all over town meeting with florists, caterers, etc.  Make an appointment at StudioWed and let the vendors come to you while you relax.  This concept was the brainchild of Nicole and Ian Riley, owners and operators of Verge Events. They have been wedding planners in Asheville since 2005 and personally vet every vendor who is invited to join the StudioWed group.

We met Nicole and Ian through our daughter, Abby.  Abby has always been interested in fashion and after a summer internship with Vera Wang in New York, Abby found her focus in the wedding industry.  She worked for Nicole and Ian one summer then returned to join them in starting a new company, Studiowedbox.  Studiowedbox is a curated subscription box designed to help guide brides through the planning process with tips, samples, suggestions and gifts.  It’s been really fun listening to Abby as she scours the web for the latest and best ideas and products to include in each months box.

Back to the party.  This year’s theme was “A GardenParty” and Nicole and her fabulous team of designers went all out in putting it together.  They chose the lawn at Homewood for the event and  Classic Event Rental provided the tent and furniture including these

“lawn” chairs and couches which were neat accent pieces.  Nuage Designs contributed the table linens in a soft blush pink with a variety of textured fabrics as an overlay.  Topping the tables were a number of different styles of flower arrangements from Flora.  I really loved the terrariums. And because the guests were people who love to create an atmosphere, everyone wore hats and lovely dresses. I felt just like I was back in England.

The food was provided by The Colorful Palate and they incorporated some of Asheville’s favorites in new and interesting ways. The crew from Blue Ridge Event Staffing made sure that the food was always available, with another tray appearing almost every time I turned around.  I especially loved the Spring Rolls filled with Pulled Pork.  It was a fresh and light way to showcase BBQ.  We even had Chicken and Waffles with a Blueberry Compote!  And if this (and the Deviled Eggs, Skewers of Grilled Shrimp and Vegetables, Meatloaf Sliders, and more) wasn’t enough, Tiffany’s Baking Company filled the dessert table to overflowing with Cupcakes, Mini Lemon Meringue Pies , and Chocolate Cookies. And at the bar there was some awesome Bourbon Caramel Popcorn to munch on while waiting for your drinks. For those who did not wish to partake of the free flow wine and beer, there was a special table with sweet tea and water.

The evening began in a very sophisticated manner as we were serenaded by a violinist from Eastcoast Entertainment.  Later a pianist joined her and they took over as the party heated up. Of course there was a photo booth (provided by Shutterbooth).  This was something new for James and me as photography was still in the dark ages when we were getting married. As you can see, we had lots of fun clowning around with the supplied props.  And of course, when we left we made sure to grab a couple of “Thank you” Bags supplied by Pressed Cotton and filled with a Bourbon Peach Pie Pop and Lipton Sweet tea!studiowed thank you

Overall it was a great evening and we thank Nicole, Ian, the team from Studiowed and their partner Weddings Unveiled for including us.  Thinking of getting married in Asheville? Stop by  Studiowed–it’s free!
