The B&B for Vets Program at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast
September 12, 2013 by Susan Murray
On of our favorite days at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast in Asheville is Veteran’s Day. That’s the day that we give back to our country and our American Military, though joining in the B&B for Vet’s Program and giving our rooms and hospitality free of charge to active and retired veterans. We have been taking part in the program since 2010, one year after its conception in 2009. The first year we offered three rooms free of charge and we enjoyed it so much that ever since we have devoted the whole inn to this very special day. Over the past three years we have hosted retired military from the Vietnam War, The Gulf War and Iraq, as well as those serving right now. They travel to us with their spouses and are our honored guests for 24 hours.
From one inn in 2008 to more than 900 B&B’s in 2012, the program has spread throughout the United States to include Canada. And this year our fellow inns in the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association will be joining us. With 100% participation from the 17 Inns of the Association that brings another 51 rooms into the pool. And I am proud to note that innkeepers in the Association are also hounding the restaurants of Asheville, hoping to offer discounted or even free meals as well!
Inns of the Association along with the Carolina Bed & Breakfast will accept reservations from retired and active American military for the night of November 11, 2013 starting from September 16, 2013. Additional nights can be booked with a 10% discount for Military. Please call 828-254-3608 First time guests will be given preference.
