Veteran’s Day at the Carolina Bed & Breakfast
November 13, 2010 by Susan Murray
>This past Wednesday, November 10th, the Carolina Bed & Breakfast joined other B&B’s in Asheville, NC and throughout the country in welcoming both active and retired Military to our inns as our guests in celebration of Veteran’s Day.
They all arrived in time for our cocktail hour and we were able to spend some time getting to know them. Horace Garner, who came with his wife, Peggy, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, Matt Conlin had served in Desert Storm and he was here with his wife Lynn (It was a double treat for her as it was also her birthday!) Allan Painter, who came with his wife, had actually been in one of the last groups of draftees but was not called up to serve until he was 51! He had just returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, where he worked in security and logistics.
The group got along famously and lingered over their wine before going out to dinner. Here they are in our dining room at breakfast the next morning.
The Carolina Bed & Breakfast was honored to have them as our guest and thanks all of our military for all they do and have done for us and our country.
